Timeline Davon – SPOILER ALERT

A gothic noir thriller set in the zombie apocalypse.

The Davon episode stands out as the darkest, most mysterious and psychologically distorted chapter of Tales of the Walking Dead, abandoning the big cities and pristine nature to weave a claustrophobic tale based on amnesia, paranoia and religious fanaticism.

The “Davon” timeline

While no exact dates are given on-screen, thanks to a statement from director Michael Satrazemis, we can place this episode approximately in the summer/fall of 2025. This places it temporally shortly before Dead City Season Two, but clearly in a completely different and isolated geographical region.

Madawaska, Maine

The story takes place in a remote, fictional town in Maine, near the Canadian border. Geographic isolation has allowed this community to survive, creating a neo-feudal and hyper-religious society, completely detached from the events of Virginia or Georgia.

Amnesia and the “Witch Hunter”

• The Mental Puzzle: The episode opens in medias res with Davon waking up injured, handcuffed to a walker, and suffering from severe dissociative amnesia. The narrative unfolds through fragmented flashbacks and visual hallucinations (Amanda’s talking head), forcing the viewer to piece together the mystery alongside the protagonist.
• The Scapegoat: Davon is accused by the community of kidnapping and killing children, including little Garen. The town’s reaction is reminiscent of the infamous Salem witch trials: an enraged mob, driven by fanaticism and superstition, demands a public lynching without any objective evidence, just to find an outside culprit (Davon is a black stranger welcomed into the community).

Who is the real monster of Madawaska?

The episode’s climax completely turns the tables. Davon manages to regain his memory just in time to save himself from execution (the terrifying “death box” where condemned inmates are left to be eaten by walkers).
The true culprit behind the kidnappings isn’t him, but Amanda, the community’s leader, assisted by her son Arnaud. Obsessed with a distorted interpretation of faith and survival, Amanda had children kidnapped to “protect” them from the horrors of the outside world, hiding them in a secret cellar or killing them when she had no other choice. Davon manages to free the surviving children, but the episode ends on a bitter note: wounded and betrayed, Davon abandons the town, leaving the residents to contend with the hypocrisy of their own laws and an approaching horde of walkers.

August 26th, 2025 
Davon, a young man on a journey to be reunited with his family in Canada, is seriously injured in a confrontation with a stranger. He is rescued by Amanda and Nora, two sisters who look after him for seven weeks in their home in an isolated community. Among his personal effects a family photo and a mysterious plastic card with the words PPP (identical to the one found by Tara at the site of Heath’s disappearance in the episode Swear of the seventh season of TWD).
October 13th, 2025 
Recovering from the accident, Davon discovers that Amanda is hiding kidnapped boys in the basement. When the woman dies during a hard confrontation between the two, the young man is blamed for the murder by the inhabitants of the small community.
October 14th, 2025
Eventually he will be able to clear himself when he discovers that the real person responsible for the kidnapping and death of several children was in fact Arnaud, the son of Amanda whom she was trying to protect.
