Dr. Chauncey Everett, naturalist and documentarian, has now lived in complete isolation for ten years in a territory called the Dead Sector, where there are no humans but only animals in the wild and vagants.
When one day he meets Amy, a girl who is lost after being separated from her group, the two's conflicting visions of the new world will collide and confront them with important questions.
