SPOILER ALERT
The fourth and final season of The Walking Dead – Daryl Dixon will once again be set in Spain, just like the previous one.
Filming began in the summer of 2025 across various Spanish regions, including Madrid, Bilbao, Galicia, Andalusia, Segovia, and Toledo. The season will be broadcast during 2026.
Statements from showrunner David Zabel:
It’s going to be a gigantic season. We’re doing eight episodes [two more than the previous ones], which is fantastic… and it will allow us to complete the story of Daryl and Carol in Spain. It’s going to be very exciting and powerful. It will also bring this part of the characters’ journey to an end—the European adventure—so this will be the last season of this chapter of the series. And then, what the future holds for these characters, we’ll see. I’m sure there’s a lot, and we talk about it all the time, but this will be the fourth and final season.
Statements from Norman Reedus:
The ending is very specific. David has done a great job of outlining these two characters, their stories, and their relationship. And it’s bittersweet in many ways.
Your love and support have made every moment worthwhile. This finale is not just a conclusion—it’s a celebration of what we’ve shared together. Keep nurturing that love: Daryl’s journey is far from over.
Statements from Melissa McBride:
There’s still a lot of story to tell. A phenomenal cast and crew are working hard on the final season, and we’re all very proud of the work we’ve done.
